A.5.a. Eligibility Criteria |
This award recognizes outstanding achievement or service worthy of special recognition as described below. The key words for the Auxiliary Commendation Award are outstanding achievement which significantly furthers any of the Auxiliary’s authorized activities. The Auxiliary Commendation Award is for outstanding Auxiliary administrative services. This requires services accomplished in a manner which is much better than could normally be expected from an Auxiliarist of like capability and experience. Neither doing a difficult job well nor doing a routine job in an excellent manner will suffice. The achievement must be truly outstanding.

A.5.b. Award Elements |
This award consists of a ribbon, miniature medal, and certificate. The operational “O” attachment is not authorized for this award. This is a service award. Subsequent awards are signified by 5/16-inch gold or silver stars as appropriate. |
AWT Team Comments:
This Award is the Auxiliary administrative counterpart of the AOM (Award of Operational Merit) which is awarded only for operational achievement.
The “O” is never awarded or worn with this award as it is an administrative award only.
This awards outstanding Auxiliary administrative services that significantly furthers the Auxiliary’s activities. That means the Auxiliary as a whole, not necessarily just a local unit. But long service in various capacities and offices throughout multiple units will also qualify. It is not an award for direct service to the USCG.
Members who develop programs or changes that go on to be adopted by District and above, are good candidates for this award.
“Neither doing a difficult job well nor doing a routine job in an excellent manner will suffice. The achievement must be truly outstanding.”
A combination of excellence in sustained service or an individual or cumulative group services may qualify.
The AWT recommends that the bulleted circumstances for this award be submitted to the AWT and we will forward to DIRAUX for preliminary determination.
